What Will You Gain This Valentine’s Day? 5 Ideas To Try For A Healthy And Fun Valentine’s Day.

Feb 8, 2018

Valentine’s day is fast approaching…..6 days to be exact. If you fancy a change from the usual chocolates and flowers then this article is for you.

Want to have some fun with your partner? Fancy trying something different that makes you feel alive and have a giggle? Want to impress them by them knowing you have out some thought in to the day and them realising that you truly care? Let’s face it do you tell your partner you love them every day? Usually this kind of stuff we take for granted and let’s face it we all love to hear we are loved.

Let’s get going with my top five ideas for a more loving Valentine’s Day.

[ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]  1. Go for a daytime or moonlit walk   [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]

Now if you are a local to my clinic you have the bonus of 7 beaches along our coastline to walk along. You also have the 1.33 miles of world’s longest pleasure pier to take a stroll. It’s open on Valentine’s day from 11am – 5pm.

If you choose the moonlit walk enjoy the lights of the seafront glistening on the water. Now what is more romantic than that. Time for you and your partner to chat and I mean really chat with no distraction of tv, laptops, iPad etc…. I think you will find this uplifting to be away from technology and the rat race for a while.

  [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”] 2. Cook dinner together  [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]

This is something my partner and I love to do. We both say how nice it is when we prepare and cook dinner together. It gives us some “us” time and allows us to chat and feel like we are really pulling together as a couple.

A meal cooked at home means you can choose to be healthy and you are standing and walking around your kitchen giving you some exercise and getting out of that chair shaped posture.

This next bit may sound “cheesy” but to keep in the spirit of the day of love try making spelt flour pancakes and add strawberry slices and crème fraiche. You could cut the pancakes in to heart shapes for breakfast or dinner dessert.

If you’re really craving some chocolate, why not go for a fondue with melted dark chocolate and berries and banana slices for dipping.

[ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]  3. Choose that drink wisely  [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]

Now most of us like a glass of alcohol to help us relax and let go but did you know there are healthier options out there. One of the top favourites is: Spirits and either water or soda water.

It has been proven that thinking different spirits have different calorie values is a myth. Spirits that have the same proof contain the same number of calories. Just choose your mixer wisely.

Red wine is another top of the pops for healthy options in the beverage department. We have all heard of its health benefits of lowering inflammation, blood pressure and risk if heart disease but this does not mean you can drink it by the gallon load.

If you are more of a beer man/girl then go light as they are low in calories and carbs.

[ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]  4. Go for a massage  [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]

Now I love a massage but rarely get them. Massages are not only chance to unwind but helps the body release toxins and function better but a good massage will help to release endorphins (the feel good hormone) which will make you feel better. Now who wouldn’t want that?

You can give us a call (01702 613542), or enquire here, and we’ll get you booked in 🙂

Enjoy treating your loved one to something different this year!

[ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]  5. Gift the gift of health  [ebs_icon type=”glyphicon-heart” icontype=”glyphicon” color=”#dd0f0f”]

Think outside the valentine’s chocolate box!….sorry for the pun lol. How about a sports watch, activity tracker, Pilates mat, work out clothing or even something like a Pilates Class pass? If you know you partner needs or wants to be more active and healthy or they already love being healthy and active, these are great options to have a think about.

We often have family members or loved ones buy our Pilates Class Passes as a gift of health. Let’s face it when your body feels good you feel happier and isn’t that what life is all about?

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day whatever you decide to do and smile! [ebs_icon type=”fa-smile-o” icontype=”fa”]
